Your therapy experience with Rocky Mountain Therapy Services begins when you make the first phone call to the clinic. This is true whether you are referred by your physician, insurance company, friend, or find us on the internet. When you call for the first time, our staff will ask you about your condition, the name of your physician, and contact information for you and your insurance plan.
Before your first visit our staff will contact your insurance company to identify the type of physical therapy coverage you have. This includes obtaining specifics for co-pays, deductibles, limitations, and the necessary pre-authorization for the services ordered by your physician.
The first visit is broken down into 3 parts.
Registration: Please be prepared to show a pictured ID and your insurance card. Â It will also be necessary to fill out personal information, medical questionnaires, and consent to treat forms.
If you want a head start, click on the links to the right, print them, fill them out and bring them to your first appointment.
Evaluation: The most effective way to provide therapy is to have thorough information regarding your medical history and your current physical condition. It is also important for the therapists to understand how your injury affects your life and your goals for treatment. It is also necessary for the therapist to assess your physical performance to determine a baseline that is used to measure improvement.
Therapy: The therapy process begins during the first visit and will involve a range of exercises and modalities depending on your specific injury and level of tolerance. This is also an assessment tool to help formulate the treatment plan. This plan will be reviewed with you prior to leaving. It will include the number of treatments per week, exercises to be performed on your own at home, and precautions or limitations to prevent further injury.
At this point your therapy becomes a dialogue between you and your therapist. Each time you attend therapy it is up to you to report to the therapists on your physical condition and any changes is ability, pain, medications, etc. This is your program and your progress is up to you. The therapist is there to show you how to achieve results, but it is up to you to achieve the treatment goals. |
